This Tuesday, Copenhagen Fashion Week launched its Spring/Summer 2023 edition and announced a partnership with Ukraine Fashion Week to “support a pair of fashion organizations in wartime.”
As the war with Russia continues, Copenhagen Fashion Week helps Ukrainian fashion designers. Coat will feature a branded film and as part of the official program, TG Botanical will host a physical presentation of its sustainable apparel.
Cecilie Thorsmark, CEO of Copenhagen Fashion Week, said in a statement, “In light of the atrocities we have witnessed to the Ukrainian nation, any support we can give to the Ukrainian fashion industry is vital to the preservation of their creative ecosystem that has been so brutally threatened.”
The director explained that the partnership with Ukraine Fashion Week is based on the idea that all fashion organizations should show respect and support to each other in these dark times.
In 2022, Ukrainian Fashion Week (UFW) celebrates its 25th anniversary, but many projects announced in Ukraine were interrupted by the war during the Russian occupation. UFW then launched the “Promoting Ukrainian Fashion” initiative to give Ukrainian designers a certain level of visibility.
