To make the Qatar-Ecuador match the first meeting of the World Cup, organizers announced Wednesday that the meeting will be held a day earlier than planned on 20 November 2022.
Coasters and schedule changes for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The opener was originally scheduled for Monday, November 21 at 11am, but will eventually take place the day before November 20, tournament organizers told AFP on Wednesday, August 10.
In the draw, the opening poster was a match between hosts Qatar and Ecuador, a tradition since 2006. However, as of the publication of the calendar, FIFA has finally placed Qatar and Ecuador in his third matchup on 21 November. It follows the Netherlands and Senegal, the new World Cup openers, and England and Iran.

Back to square one this Wednesday, Qatar v Ecuador will finally start the competition a day earlier than expected.
