This Thursday, Nuki released the third generation of its flagship product. But this time, it is not a single connected lock that is offered, but two models with quite similar characteristics and some differences to justify various price positions. As always, the Smart Lock is easy to install, without the need for tinkering or drilling, or even disassembling anything (except in exceptional cases). There is no need to create an account to use and pair the lock with your smartphone. Just download the app and pair. Nothing more. A will from Nuki.

The Nuki Smart Lock 3.0 Pro is the new top model from the manufacturer. It counts everything Nuki has added over time to have it all in one place. The design is similar to the previous product, with a rather elegant stainless steel knob. Little novelty this year: you can choose between a black or white model.

On all 2021 versions, the engine has also been improved compared to previous products to be even more discreet. “It doesn’t make more noise than your traditional key in your lock”, Reassures Martin Pansy.

No need to opt for a Nuki bridge to connect to your wifi if you want to manage your lock remotely. The Smart Lock 3.0 Pro has an integrated wifi system to connect to your home network. You can then manage remote access, let the lock know that you are approaching or moving away from the house to activate or deactivate.

In addition, no batteries are needed to power the lock, the Power Pack is included in the lock. It is also compatible with Google Home, Homekit, Amazon Alexa or IFTTT home automation systems. “IIt is important for us that our lock is integrated into efficient smart home management to be even more useful to everyone”, He explains.

A new model for small budgets

If your budget is tighter, Nuki has planned a model that goes to the essentials and is perfect for a first approach to the connected lock. The Nuki Smart Lock 3.0 is a basic model which is much more affordable (149 euros). It takes the well-known compact and rounded design of the Nuki lock with its push button to easily unlock your lock from inside your home, like other home models.

The company made some concessions on the design. The button is made of white plastic to blend in with the whole now also all white, “to better match the color of most modern doors ”, Specifies Martin Pansy.

The Nuki Smart Lock 3.0 works like the previous versions, by connecting it to your smartphone application via Bluetooth. You approach, the lock detects you and unlocks automatically. On the other hand, if you want to manage your lock remotely, you will have to add an optional Nuki Bridge (99 euros) to connect everything to the internet and control from your smartphone when you are not there. Similarly, the Power Pack to avoid using batteries is optional, price concession requires.

Small difference between Smarts Lock 3.0 and 3.0 Pro: the number of keys and users you can create. It will be 100 for the base model and up to 200 for the Pro version. Something to see coming unless you have put the lock on the access door of your business (or if you have a very large family) …

Objective: secure as many doors as possible

The goal of the manufacturer of Ganz is to be able to satisfy the greatest number of households, with a device compatible with more than 85% of compatible existing doors. For the last 15 percentages there is the optional universal cylinder to fit all locks.

We put everything that seemed essential to us in our locks: easy pairing with a smartphone, invitations for loved ones with easy-to-create digital keys, remote control possible ”,sums up Martin Pansy. “We try to make it as simple as possible for people to go for smart locks, while ensuring home security and a strong data privacy approach. Only 1.5% of European dwellings are equipped. Intelligent and technological solutions can improve the daily life of many and reassure the greatest number. ”

To order with peace of mind, the Nuki site also offers a pre-purchase questionnaire to find out if you can simply order the lock or if the additional cylinder will be essential.
